As a Design and Development Engineering intern for Kodiak Aircraft in Sandpoint ID, I was able to be a part of one of the very few companies providing a modern aircraft designed for backcountry flying. The Kodiak 100 and 900 aircraft are rugged, high performance aircraft that provide aerial aid globally. As an engineering intern, I was tasked with developing an autonomous braking system for integration with the revolutionary Garmin HomeSafe system. The engineering team I was on sharpened my design skills and reshaped my ability to work with restrictive constraints. Working in the aeronautical industry gave me an appreciation for extreme precision in engineering, because in flight, everything is critical.
